Quick organic chem question about alkene structures ?
I don't know how to name this alkene because I cant tell if it's an octene or a hexene because it looks like this Ch3-ch2-ch2-cch2-ch3 with the third carbon from the right of that skeleton having this hanging off of it with a Double bond cch3-ch3 do i count both of the carbons in the cch3 part ? I know that I would count those if this was just a straight chain isomer but since it is not straight does that mean that it would be like I'm going backwards to count those carbons in cch and thus make that the wrong way to to about it ?
