How to prepare for college placements in a short period?

im studying 3rd year production engg. in a Govt. College in Coimbatore. Placements starts this semester onwards and there are hardly two months left. I would liked to get placed in core field, but there is less time left. So please tell your valuable suggestions from your experiences to prepare for placements to the maximum.
